What is seborrheic dermatitis and what causes it?
This common skin condition is thought to be a result of a certain yeast, along with overproduction of oil from the glands in skin. The common lesions may appear as white or yellow flaky scales on the skin of the face and in skin folds.
There may be a genetic component, and is seen more commonly in patients with Parkinson’s disease, a history of stroke, or with HIV.
How is seborrheic dermatitis treated?
Your Dermatologist may prescribe medicated shampoos or creams with steroids or anti-fungals to treat this condition.
